LEAPING INTO LITERATURE
Performed by Bruce Bray
written and directed by educator Lisa Rizziello

Literacy Programs New York

Leaping into Literature is a reading program designed to enhance the awareness and appreciation of literature. The program utilizes many of today's favorite book selections for children. The stories are brought to life in an energetic, fun, controlled program using storytelling, music, theater, puppetry, magic, audience participation and volunteers.

During the show, the children learn how to use their imagination in order to bring the stories to life. The children will be reminded of the importance to revisiting and rereading favorite books. Throughout the show there is an underlying theme, "WE ARE ALL UNIQUE AND SPECIAL IN OUR OWN WAY." This program would also fit into a self-esteem assembly.

Some of the literature selections used in the show are:

Charlie and the Caterpillar, James and the Giant Peach, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, Abiyoyo, The Marvelous Mystical Magical Coat, Spike, and The Empty Pot.

Bruce masterfully leads the children on a journey of reading while entertaining them at the same time. The program was originally designed for the annual Literacy Festival held at the Maurice Hawk School in Princeton Junction, New Jersey. Lisa Rizziello chairs the Literacy Festival. If you would like to contact her directly, please feel free to call her at 609-577-6158. Since that date 10 years ago Bruce has been a regular personality at the Literacy Festival with new books and performances that draw raves from students, teachers and administrators.

The show is geared for grades K-3, but most schools bring in the 4th and 5th graders.

The program runs approximately 45 minutes in length. If there are more than 250 children it is recommended that you divide the children and have two performances. Please see our booking and pricing page for fees and discounts available to your school or library.

Last years program, " The Magic of Reading", was seen by over 12,000 children. This program is available for the 2007-2008 school year.

Family Fun Time Evening Programs are great to bring the family out to school in the evening to promote book fairs, reward programs, PTA/PTO meetings, ice cream socials, and fundraisers. The Family Night Program goes hand in hand with the Daytime Assembly Programs. The students get very excited about returning with their families to see the night time show, which is completely different than the daytime assembly programs. Theses will be the best family night turn outs your school will have all year if done in conjunction with the daytime program. The evening programs are $350.00 if we are booked for the daytime assembly programs that day. If we are booked to do just the Family night show the fee is $495.00 plus a travel fee if the school is 75 miles outside of Toms River, NJ.

BONUS: Afterschool Programs/Magic Wizard Workshops are $275.00. This program is presented after school and before 6 PM. This afterschool program is booked at this rate only if we have booked a half-day or full day on that date in your area. If you would like to book just an afterschool program the fee is $495.00 plus a travel fee if the school is 75 miles outside of Toms River, NJ.

In order to book a program, simply fill out our online booking form or contact Bruce directly at 908-910-1650 and he will respond promptly. Although Bruce is out performing nearly every day, he will call back at the first break in his schedule.

We recommend you book early to reserve your date and times. We look forward to performing and providing a quality program for your school.
